Cob Coon Cah!

12 02 2012

That is the phonetic spelling of “Thank you” in Thai, my farewell to Phuket and the wonderful Thai people. I can say that while I had a severe sunburn, had an allergic reaction to something I ate, and had a bad fall getting out of the pool…this was a wonderful week! Really, I mean it!

Where else could I have work meetings poolside or have 2 one hour massage treatments and 2 one hour private yoga sessions all for less than $200. That’s right, amazing! This girl has nothing to complain about.

The following are a series of photos I took at sunset. Since I’m not much of a morning person, I’ve always had a great fondess for beautiful sunsets. It really doesn’t get much better than this.

I have more photos to share but the site is being goofy. Will post later. I’m currently sitting in the Hong Kong International Airport with just 3 more hours til my next flight. I’ve still a long way to go! London then Istanbul then Ankara for 24 hours and then back home. I’m really looking forward to that part.

Streets of Sao Paulo: Photo Essay

10 10 2011

Sao Paulo, Brazil is a very large, over populated city full of concrete and pavement. It’s not easy to find spots of green, natural beauty. However, the city is full of vibrant colors and energy that perfectly represents the people. During a week visit early August, I had a chance to take some great shots…some may call it graffiti or vandalism but I think it’s absolutely beautiful art!

Here are a few shots inside an AMAZING restaurant called La Figuera. The restaurant is literally built around a several hundred year old fig tree. The massive branches spread across the interior of the restaurant. Oh, and they serve incredible food too!

This is a “motoboy” and apparently they run the streets of Sao Paulo. My colleagues tell me that motoboys drive as fast as they want, wherever they want. And if a car tries to cut them off, the motoboys might kick the car, break off a mirror and such. So, the rule is…let the motoboys go wherever they like, however they like.

Lastly saw this cool sculture while driving in Sao Paulo…felt like we were always driving in Sao Paulo, takes at least an hour to go anywhere. Anyway, a lovely reminder of home. Who knew they have a mini Gateway Arch in Brazil.
